Abduction- film 2

The genre of this film is a thriller. The movie creates a style of a young good looking teenage boy having to fight for himself. The film creates the main actor (taylor Lautner) to look brave and courageous, also making all of the other characters unpredictable which also leaves the story-line unpredictable.

The website for this film is a very defined dark texture. It sets a thrilling type of mood that displays the panic and fear of the characters in the film. The colours of the film's website are also a characteristic that set the mood and feeling for the film. The website uses mostly the same colour contrast over the entire site. It consists of darker colours, being grey's, blue tinges and black. All of these colours rang in different shades which give the character and the setting feeling and contrast.

The font that is used for the site is a simple text which is easy to read and is obvious to see. The title of the film in in larger font and bolded to make it stand out. The links on the site are easy to follow and take you straight to what you are looking for. The site dosnt have many promotional materials but it dose promote the theme of the film but the colour pictures and text.

I believe that the target audience for this film in both males and females in their teens to early twenties but adults would also enjoy the thriller. I believe that the film has been made to suit all ages above 12 and it has been well made to do so.

The focal point of the website is the main character in the middle. Your eyes focus on him as he is right in the middle and the biggest object in the picture. I think the layout of the page is well balanced with the character centered on the page and the buildings in a 3D perspective. I believe that all of the elements like line, tone, colour and texture and more work well together to have the page look balanced and appealing. Personally the elements that make the website work well together is the colour, positioning and the lighting as they set the scene and the mood for the majority of the film's story line.

Star Wars- Film 1

The website that I have chosen is promoting the star-wars film series. The website has used a colour scheme with darker background and having either the setting or the characters lighter than the background. The tone of the background and pictures on the website has a dusty/musky shade the gives a dark and scary feel to the page. I think the website is well suited to the film series as it relates to both the characters in the film and the setting throughout. The website also shows some of the character that are in the film and the way the site is designed also sets and scary and adventurous feel for the film.

Final Hand In

Today was a very releiving day. I finished my film and exported it to hand in. All of the actual filming process is done and has been handed in. I also handed in my storyboards to Mr Andrews and all of my other documents are up on my blog. The reflection i will update or re-do another one over the weekend

7/9/11

Today in class I had some problems with my usb. All of my media film and editing process have been saved on my usb and it all began to corrupt today in class. Mr Andrews helped me get all of the data off the usb before it was all corrupt and I managed to save the film and all that I had to re-do was the sound in garrageband. I spent the rest of the afternoon re-doing my sound on top of my film but I managed to get it done.

Scene

Last night I finished the scene that I was assigned and showed Mr Andrews in class today. He liked it and all I have to fix on it is one small part at the beginning. For the rest of the class I am helping Maddy finish off her scene so that we can put it all together and start putting sound to it.

Sunday, August 21, 2011

Today we are choosing the shots that we are going to use. This afternoon i am going to get a hard drive or usb for media alone and get the converted files so that I can start putting it together. We have two weeks till our final film is due and I am a but worried about the time, so I am going to have to work hard and get it finished as quick as i can but also do a good job on it. I have already completed my reflection so all I need to focus on is editing the shots together and then matching the sound to the clips.

Sunday, August 14, 2011

Today we had planned to start our filming again. In class we found out that Emma has music commitments and Maddy has gone home sick. Brooke and I are still going to film but we also have to find another person to act because one of our actors are sick at home today. We will still do as much filming as we can.

Reflection

During the filming process of our task my group has come across many problems and difficulties. The first time we shot our film we took it back to class Mr Andrews had a look at our footage and explained to us that we haven’t used enough shot angles and types and that our shots were to long in length. We discussed with him what the footage we had would be worth for a grade and we decided we wouldn’t be able to receive a good enough grade. He has told us that we need to re-shoot our film and re-draw our storyboards with more shots and details. Our groups tried to re-film the next week on Wednesday 10th but we were not able to film because our actors decided that had other things to do and we had trouble finding Mr Andrews to get a tripod and two of our group members were at sport training. We talked to Mr Andrews today in class and our group has organised that we will film on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday after school and we will let our training coaches know that we will not be able to make training. We are very determined to complete this filming in two afternoons if we need to three but we need to finish the shots so we have enough time to edit the film properly.

During the planning process our group was a bit disorganised and rushed a lot of the important planning sources at the last minute. We were each assigned task to do for the planning before we shot. Although we were all expected to do a task a lot of us left it to the last minute and rushed it as soon as it needed to be done. We need to improve on our communication and organisation so that we can film the shots properly and work together as a group.

Once our group relized that we were so far behind and where running out of time quickly we all worked hard to get all of the planning process. Although we had to re-draw our story boards and re do our shooting schedule we have organised it now and are all communicating and organising with each other well.

The planning process definitely helped my group when it came to filming. By using the storyboards and knowing what we needed to do and how to do it saved a lot of time and confusion within the group and actors. To film the shots the shot list really helped us knowing what shot was what and where it needed to be filmed and with what characters in the shot. The storyboards also helped so that we knew what shots and angles to use when.

Our group has to re shoot our entire film so that we have an acceptable amount of shots and angles and also that our shots were too long in length previously. The bathroom scene of our film worked very well we used quite a lot of different shot techniques that we didn’t as such plan of doing but we found that they looked really good and were very effective for the film.

I have learnt many skills and techniques during the process of filming and designing the shots in our film. I have learnt about shots and editing and the pre-production process that I have never really taken noticed of when watching a film.

I believe that my blog is up to date although I had done the documents required but I have just recently uploaded them to my blog. I have all the document that are required of us and they have been very helpful throughout the filming process. I think I could have done more weekly reflections on my blog to keep track of the process so far instead of doing a less regular larger reflection.

I think that my group and I could have worked a lot better together to get things done properly and on time and I think if we did this our footage would have turned out a lot better thank I did but overall I am happy with the footage we have now.

I am happy with the film story line that we shot but I think next time it would be better if it wasn't A's violent and A's many people dying because we arnt allowed to show that happening in the film.

If we were able to start the project again I would get my group a lot more organised and onto the things that they have to do. I would also get my group to put more effort and detail into the storyboards and shot lists. I believe if we did this we would not have so much trouble and we wouldn't need to re-film our movie.

Shooting Schedule 2

3rd of August - 3:30 - 5:30 All the cast and production crew filmed what was supposed to be the hole rough edit but was just a trial now that we have to reshoot.

10th of August - 3:30 - 6 All cast and production crew to reshoot.

We have taken into consideration the times that everyone is available and Emma and Maddy have training so they will not be able to join us filming untill 4:30 but this is the only chance we have and we dont really need them the whole time. We have also thought about lighting and there is dance classes Wednesday night so lighting will be available in the Reeves building where we are shooting.

We have re done our storyboards and shot lists and we have decided to film again tomorrow afternoon (wednesday 9/8/11), so that we can submitt our rough edit on friday (12/8/11)

Re-Filming

Mr Andrews looked at our footage today and explained to us that our shots are too long and we do not film from enough different angles and If we dont use these we arnt able to get a good enough mark. So we have decided to re-film and have made new shots lists and storyboards. Our rough edit is due this Friday so we have talked with Mr Andrew and he has given us some extra time to re-film.

Our Groups

The group I am working in for the assignment is Sarah and Emma, we have chosen to use Emma's story as it could be the most exciting filmed and is also easy with the resources we have available.

We Have Decided To Choose Emmas Story

Five years earlier, the masked man witnessed the girls parents together with his own parents die in a mountain avalanche from his own actions of shooting at the mountain. His psychopathic mind believes that the girls are responsible for causing the avalanche.
The next scene focuses on 2 girls on the oval, Lauren and Beth. They are playing soccer but suddenly stop when they hear a noise in the bushes. They realise that it is only Nancy who joins them in their game of soccer. However, a few seconds later there is another rustling sound that makes all the girls turn around and jump! Standing there is a man all in black with a mask on and holding a gun. They scream and run in all directions.
The girls run fast to the public bathroom and Nancy opens the door to the first cubicle. The man is standing there. She screams, "Get out!” The girls then run to the library, they enter the glassed room and hide under the nearest computer desk. They think they will be safe now and breath a sigh of relief. They look to the side, the man is already there under the desk alongside them and is pointing his gun. Confusion shows on the girl’s faces, Nancy faints. Lauren and Beth run until they hear a gun shot, BANG! They turn to see that Nancy is dead. They want to go back and help her but it is no use. They know they can do nothing and will only get killed. They run on, towards their house, through the gardens and look back to see that no one is following them. Amongst tears and fear they hold hands as they sprint to their house all the time looking back to see if the masked man is following them.
Lauren unlocks the door, as they enter the room they find their dining room trashed. Standing in the middle of all the damage is the gunman holding dead Nancy by the hair. The girls jump in horror. It is a phenomenon that he got there before them. They each fall to the floor as he shoots them one by one. The last shot shows the masked gunman chuckling under his breath then the screen goes black.

Characters:
Beth is 14, she is a shy, quiet girl who was only 9 when her parents died. She has taken the deaths very badly. She is having trouble at school because she afraid to speak up for herself and lacks confidence.
Nancy, her older sister aged 16 is very protective of Beth and acts like a mother figure to her. Mature beyond her years, Nancy is an excellent student, responsible and assertive. She also has a wacky sense of humour.
Lauren, aged 16 is friends with both sisters. Like Nancy she is very protective of Beth. She has been best friends with the girls since they were toddlers as their parents were close friends. Lauren is very scared of unfamiliar noises and sights. She experiences tremors in her hands constantly.
The masked man is a psychopath. He believes the girls are responsible for the avalanche that killed both his parents and their own parents. For the last 5 years he has been following the girls around waiting for the right moment to kill them and give them a taste of their own medicine. He always wears black clothing and is able to remain unnoticed. The masked man also has special powers; he can travel at fast speeds and can become invisible. He has no emotions and lives to find the right moment to kill the girls.

Setting:
Ski Slope: The exclusive ski slopes in a quiet country town in Alabama, surrounded by large snow topped fir trees. Only top skiers are able to brave the course due to the steep slopes. The location also has small ski lodge made of wood that contains a small ski shop and places to eat and stay at.
Oval: This is a round green oval on which the girls play on. The oval is simple with some trees around it to create the atmosphere. On the oval are 2 soccer goals for the girls to play on. There are also black lines of paint where the girls practice their running and athletics.
3.
Bathroom: This is a cream walled bathroom with many mirrors and toilets. It has a brown tiled floor and white sinks with the taps that you push down, not turn. It also has glass leading into the bathroom and this helps built suspension.

Music Clip Analysis

The speed of this clip is quite fast throughout the song until the slower section of a verse comes in and the clip and dancing is slowed down also. The difference in then speed changing represents a different emotion and feeling. The mood created in the film clip and created a feeling of lost love and seeking forgiveness and regret. The editing types tha the producer has used are fading in and out of shot and quick snap shots and shots zooming in, panning and tilting.

REFLECTION

The problems that I encountered during the process of the planning were time management and towards the beginning was understanding to format and setting of the treatment. It took me a while to construct a complete story and work out how I was going to develop the storyboards.

One I had the plot of my story written down and complete I then worked out what the characteristics of the characters were so that I could create story around their personalities. I did not use Internet research.

All of the documents on blackboard helped me a lot when I was writing both my treatment and storyboards. I used mostly all of the documents that were provided and referred to all throughout the task.

I have based my film around a horror/ drama genre. This was not so much demonstrated in my storyboards but is obvious in the plot of my story.

When I was working on my storyboards the problems I found were getting frustrated with the way the way I couldn’t not draw what I was planning to have. I eventually drew what I wanted so I could get the basic plot across.

Skills that I have learnt during this project understand camera angles, and the different filming techniques. I have also learnt how to write a film treatment and have also learnt how to properly create a storyboard.

Jeep Comercial Ananlysis

The rhythm of the commercial is an element that helps tie the whole commercial together. The edits and the passage of time create a faster rhythm for the commercial.

The edits influence the passage of time by speeding up what is happening in the shot and cutting to different frames in different times in the commercial.

There are quite a few graphics corresponds in this commercial. One example of this is when the is woman is driving the car and it then cuts to all different people. This enhances the commercial but showing that all sorts of people can drive a jeep.

Aviator- Mise En Scene (need to edit)

During the first scene of aviator, the contrast levels set the scene. The high contrast of the scene sets time of the day being mid-day because of the sun at the top of the sky and the heavy shadows coming off the people and objects around the area. The set uses simple colours ( dirty/ earthy colours) and having desert mountains and and farming in the background. The setting was at an airfield which was very spacious, although the area inside the plane was quite cramped as it was a trial plane that the controllers were put anywhere they could be and weren't very organized. The moods of this scene were intense, exiting and just waiting for something else to happen. In this scene it would be common for planes to be landing and taking off and landing in this area as it is an airstrip. In this scene the characters visible are mechanics, pilots and aircraft judges. The main characters personality shows to be adventurous and risk taking and that he is dedicated and determined for his flying. The shots that are used in this filming sequence are low shots which show that it is cramped in the plane, long shots on the plane which show the speed it is traveling, tight close ups and high angles over the pilot.

Homework 182/11

During a film each and every part of the shooting is planned a particular way. Cinematography is one of the main aspect of film. It a focus on the camera movement, position, focus, Perspective and the speed.

The camera movement and position of the film variates to and from different angles on the characters and the main objects in the area. The camera is continuously changing it focus and angle.the focuses they use 90% of the time are relating and following at one of the golden rules. In this scene there is always a particular object that is focused of and it proves to be the largest object in the picture. the speed continuously changes throughout this scene depending on what is happening and how much suspense needs to be created. the exposure consists of both high and low contrasts in the house towards the end of the scene. The perspective of the film changes regularly for example when the horseman appears to be larger the other three people which send the message that he is more powerful.

Cinematography in this scene is used very well, to make the beginning of the movie to have a good feel and has the viewers drawn.

the ledged of sleep hollow film analysis

EDITING:

This film has a very good beat to the music which give it a scary and suspicious rhythm and filming to the acting that is occurring. the graphic relationships in the beginning of the film uses a lot of quick cuts to the next image where he is quickly in a different position. The film also uses jump cuts which shorten the events, for example when they are riding the horses through the Forrest and they cut straight to the little boy in the house lighting the candles.

SOUND:

The music and the sound of the beginning of the film gives a very unknown feel and not knowing what is going to happen. The music and the sound effects at the point in the film when he is cutting away at the tree creates a lot of fear and suspense and not knowing what to expect next. The music also climaxes at the same point that the scene/scenario climaxes and the music builds anticipation and both the music and acting are both in sync with the beat of the music. The dialogue is very limited at this point in the film which also adds to the suspense of the scene. there are only a few lines of dialogue as the focus of the scene is tho find out what is going to be in the tree and what the human like blood is from.

CINEMATOGRAPHY:

Mise en scene-

The acting in this particular scene of the movie was showing the Johnny Dep is playing a very weak, serious but also funny character and is juxtaposed against the humour of the blood being flicked onto his face. The two older children with Johnny Dep are playing scared, shocked and helpless children. This is deliberate acting, as the director would have wanted them to look innocent and venerable. The acting of the family in their home because they are a close happy, loving family but is also unprepared and innocent. The horse men appears to be a very powerful and magical character that is on a rampage.

The props that are used in this scene are the heads in the tree, the forest, a sword, skeleton and the lantern.

The setting of the scene is the tree, the forest, the house and the village. Part of the set is also the fog and the lighting effects ( a dull gray light), the lighting effects also had different tinges of colour like blue yellow and other warmer colours.

Jeep Commercial Analysis

1)- The rhythm of this commercial is shown to be fast action that is matched the the fast and catchy beat of the music that is put to the commercial. The edits of the commercial in the time change are also matched to beat and emphasis on the music.

2)- The edits manipulate the passage of time by having the period of time sped up so the the time change in the scene is quicker and you only see the start and the end of action. This keeps the viewers interest on the film and keeps it quick and to the point.

3)- The graphic matches in this commercial is when the shots reverse backwards and forwards to front he girl to the guy driving the jeep. This enhances the commercial of the jeep to say that you can take this car anywhere at anytime.
